Why is Peanut Butter so important?

The BuddyPack program seeks to provide young children in need with easy-to-prepare, nutritious foods. Peanut Butter provides a great shelf-stable source of protein for growing youngsters. Our goal is to include a jar of Peanut Butter in each Buddy Pack once a month. Currently 3,800 elementary school students in our 32-county service area take Buddy Packs home every week.

Why do you need my help?

The Food Bank must purchase the product and it is expensive. Unlike many of the products The Food Bank provides, we cannot buy it in bulk (at lower prices) and have volunteers repackage it. We need individual, sealed jars that students can carry home in backpacks - the ideal size is a 12-18oz. jar.

What can I do?

Our goal is to collect 10,000 jars of Peanut Butter by May 2010. So whichever your choice, Skippy or Jiff, Chunky or Smooth, spread the word, hold a Peanut Butter drive and donate a jar today!

Collection barrels are located in The Food Bank foyer. Make sure to let us know so we can count your contribution towards our goal!
