Serving others is one of the best parts of Kelly Malone's job. Seeing how others help each other is too.

As a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service, Malone looks forward to being a part of Stamp Out Hunger with his coworkers, his family and his community.

A Jefferson City native, Malone said he appreciates the community's giving nature.

"People's personal lives are going through your hands every day," Malone said. "That's sacred."

That trustworthiness may be why the letter carrier's food drive is the largest for the Central Missouri Food Bank and the nation.

On Saturday, Malone will be helping pick up the brown paper bags left near mailboxes or on front porches to support food pantries and feeding projects in Cole County, through the Central Missouri Food Bank.

Other volunteers will join in, including retired carriers, volunteers from local churches and letter carriers' family members. Volunteers will help pick up the bags set out visibly near mailboxes before 9 a.m. Saturday.
